CABIN LEADER

Job Description & Guidelines

Staff Application
  • Be with your cabin group through out the camp week
  • Be in the cabin with your camper whenever they are scheduled to be there.
  • See that you and your campers abide by the camp guidelines
  • Be concerned with the spiritual needs of each camper in the cabin. Make opportunities to deal with each camper concerning salvation and his/her relationship to Jesus Christ. This can be accomplished in your one-one time during the week with your camper (see suggestions for these tips for one-on-one included later in the manual).
  • See that each camper attends all meetings, activities, and meals on time. (sit with them - Jr. and Middler camps-and make it a practice to check to see that they are all present. Let the appropriate dean know if a camper is not eating.)
  • Report all problems (including disciplinary) to the deans and any injuries or sicknesses to the camp nurse immediately.
  • Lead your cabin in evening devotions and a sharing and prayer time just before lights out. (see suggestions for these devotions later in the manual.)
  • See that lights remain out in your cabin and inappropriate conversation stops after "lights out". PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW YOUR CAMPERS TO ENGAGE IN CABIN PRANKS. Such activities have a detrimental effect on camp discipline and will not be allowed.
  • Avoid physical contact with campers of the opposite sex, such as arms around shoulders or waist, holding hands, etc. Stick to a hands off policy. Use direction with same sex (see abuse policy).
  • Be prepared at all meetings to deal with any young person coming forward who is in your cabin who wants to make a commitment to Christ.

Fill out camper information sheet and give to the program director before leaving camp.
